After
less than two years of full-time touring, The Chris McCarty
Band already appears poised on the brink of a major breakthrough
onto the national music scene. Logging close to 200 dates
a year throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, the band
has garnered significant regional attention from both fans
and industry types through support spots for Robert Randolph
& the Family Band, North Mississippi All-Stars, The
Gin Blossoms, Sugar Ray, Pat McGee Band, Seven Mary Three,
and others; through high-profile spots in major music festivals
such as the Great Southern Music Harvest, Mobile Bayfest,
and the 50,000-person UF Gator Growl; and through sold-out
headlining shows of their own. To date, the band has sold
over 7,000 copies of its first two EPs, Whats
Going Down and Naked, and after spending most of the past
winter off the road to record, The Chris McCarty Band released
a new full-length album, entitled Dreaming in Stereo, on
April 23.
With this new album, The Chris McCarty Band
finally captured the chemistry that exists between these
five friends and is clear to the audience every night they
perform. Filled with introspective yet positive songwriting,
Dreaming in Stereo talks about life ambition, personal
insecurity, mans role in the world, both the struggles
and joys of love. Chris, Phil, Julius, Greg, and Gabe are
very different people, and come from diverse musical backgrounds.
However, both on this album and on stage, they are able
to find the commonality between their passions and make
music that draws on all of these different influences. They
create music which speaks to people regardless of their
background or age.
If youre in the mood to stare at the
wall and think about angst, then this probably isnt
the band for you. The Chris McCarty Band is music to dance
to. To sing to. To laugh to. To love to.
