Biography
"Music is so
simple, just open your mouth and sing" the slogan of Diesel, Xion, Jericho,
D-lew and Bishop collectively known as Soulfire, formerly COMPOZITIONZ. In
the Fall of 1999, the brainchild of 4 young men from Jackson, Mississippi attending
Jackson State University, was born. Being JSU's Performing Quartet for a time,
they later added one more member, and began a musical story soon to be etched
in the stone of musical history. At that time, Soulfire made the commitment to
extending their talents way beyond the confines of Mississippi and share their
special brand of music. With an explosive chemistry that cannot
be duplicated, Soulfire has fused rhythm and blues, gospel, jazz and classical
genres of music and created a blend that will leave you captivated. These Jackson,
MS natives, having traveled the nation performing with and for such musical icons
as Michael Bolton, Grace Bumbry, Cassandra Wilson, Peabo Bryson, Ronald Isley,
The O'Jay's and an array of artists from Germany, Sweden and Italy. In
March of 2002, Soulfire began the grueling task of learning and perfecting live
performances with a desire to excite and tantalize audiences from ages 8 years
old to 80! Soulfire deeply felt that something real and true was missing in music;
something that was faintly there but smothered by the weight of pyro-technics
and vocal synthesizers. So with strong, southern-root based voices, armed with
steps inspired by the mighty Temptations; while being compared to the original
five, Soulfire launched themselves into a whole new era of their musical undertaking.
The energy, dynamic choreography and impeccable sound is guaranteed
to make the crowd roar and embrace the rebirth of Popular/Soul music.
